Additional Needs

ADDITIONAL NEEDS PROGRAMMES

Focused on helping young people with additional needs, behaviour or mental health difficulties, special educational needs or disabilities (SEND), English as a second language (EAL), looked-after children or care leavers to develop employability skills and confidence, progress in education or move into work or apprenticeships. We also work with those who are or are at risk of becoming NEET (not in education, employment or training).

SUPPORTED WORK EXPERIENCE:

Supported Work Experience offers students who could struggle to engage in a mainstream Work Experience programme the opportunity to participate in an adapted programme. Students do a 1:1 careers interview and four pre-placement sessions: “Get Ready 4 Work Experience”. It covers the following topics; the benefits of work experience, transferable skills, making good first impressions and a “What is expected of me?” session. Students then go out on placement, one day a week for 4-6 weeks, for a half-day. Afterwards, they attend two post-placement sessions involving a CV workshop and a celebration event.
