VOLUNTEER WITH US
We rely on employee and employer volunteers to inspire and motivate the next generation. Our corporate volunteering opportunities in London schools and colleges help businesses to connect with and support local young people.
We welcome individual professionals or groups of employees from a wide range of industries. You don’t need experience working with children or young people, just plenty of enthusiasm! We will provide briefings beforehand and support you on the day. Help us open doors for young people by giving us some of your time to share your knowledge and experience.
Volunteering in a Primary School gives children an early understanding of work and opens doors to new aspirations.
Volunteers visit schools to explain their jobs, introduce pupils to their workplace, or support enterprise workshops. Opportunities include:
- World of Work Week: Our flagship primary school programme introduces children to jobs and industries, exploring their related concepts. You can volunteer for an in-school session or host a workplace visit as a company and let pupils become employees for a day.
- Primary Mentoring: Visit a primary school once a week or fortnight and help a child develop their literacy or numeracy skills. We partner companies with local schools, and their staff volunteer to mentor a pupil for
- Support competitions between schools and classes based on STEM, creativity and entrepreneurial prowess, like becoming a ‘dragon’ and judging children’s inventions at our version of Dragons Den!
Volunteering in a Secondary School gives young people the knowledge, confidence and skills to enter the workplace and plot their career journey.
Volunteers visit schools to explain their jobs, introduce pupils to their career, and support students work-related learning. Opportunities include:
- BOSS Day: BOSS Day (Building Opportunities and Skills Seminars), is a full-day session for Year 10 and 11 students, focusing on essential skills such as CV writing, interview techniques, skills identification, and preparing for work experience. It’s our flagship programme aimed at raising aspirations and realising opportunities. Volunteers give tried-and-tested seminars to groups of students, sharing experiences to develop skills and confidence.
- You’re Hired!: A day of activities focused on the skills and qualities needed in the workplace. Students learn how to find a job, prepare a CV and succeed at interviews.
Our mentoring programmes involve employee volunteers supporting a child or young person on an ongoing basis. Participating pupils may have additional needs or be facing challenges at school. Current programmes include:
- Primary Mentoring: Visit a primary school once a week or fortnight and help a child develop their literacy or numeracy skills. Companies will be partnered with a local school and each volunteer will be matched with a pupil for the academic year.
- Challenge Mentoring: Help a Year 7 student struggling with the transition to secondary school. Mentors meet with their mentees once a week and set challenges, aiming to improve their confidence and motivation.
INSPIRE will broker the relationship between a company and school, and offer training and support to volunteers.
